
Falcons To Face Fighting Irish Wednesday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team will travel to South Bend, Ind. for their third match of the season. The Falcons will go against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame on Wednesday, Jan. 23 with a scheduled 5 p.m. first serve. BGSU enters the contest with a 1-1 record on the season.
Solid Start
The Falcons opened the spring season by sweeping Bellarmine University, 7-0, on Saturday, Jan. 19. This was the first time in 23 years that BGSU opened spring play with a sweep. The second match of the season came against the University of Louisville on Sunday, Jan. 20 with the Falcons falling to the Cardinals, 5-2. The Orange and Brown were led by Paula Comella, who captured two wins in singles and a win in doubles over the two matches.
Focusing On The Fighting Irish
Notre Dame is 1-0 on the season after starting spring play with a 7-0 sweep against Western Michigan. In singles play, the Fighting Irish won first singles in three sets, while all other competitors won in straight sets. The Falcons last traveled to South Bend last season, coming up short in the contest, 6-1.
Coming Home
This will be the third, and final, consecutive away match for the Falcons to start the season. Bowling Green will then have two home matches, both being played at Perrysburg Tennis Center. The first match be against Indiana Tech on Saturday, Feb. 2, followed by Saint Louis University on Friday, Feb. 8.
