Volleyball Secures Sweep For Third Consecutive Saturday

Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program came away with a 3-0 sweep over the Western Michigan Broncos on Saturday (Oct. 12). With the sweep, the Falcons have now logged a 3-0 victory on three consecutive Saturdays, all against MAC foes. The win moves BGSU to 4-2 within the conference, including being 10-8 overall.Â

Play-By-Play Notes
- In the first set, the Falcons took the lead after a 20-20 tie and nearly never looked back, leading for majority of the match from there, and never trailing.Â
- A 3-0 run from the 20-20 tie lead the Falcons to their first set win of the night, highlighted by back-to-back kills by Jacqueline Askin.
- Another 3-0 run, this time in the second set from a 7-5 score propelled the Falcons to a healthy lead.
- The rest of the second set was back-and-forth between the Falcons and Broncos with BGSU keeping their advantage through before securing a 2-0 lead.Â
- Bowling Green opened the third set with a 4-0 run, leading into an 8-1 advantage for the Falcons.Â
- Throughout the set, the Orange and Brown strung together a few duos of points, culminating in a 25-13 third set win and the 3-0 sweep.Â
Strong Individual PerformancesÂ
- A trio of Falcons paced Bowling Green in the kills department seeing Jacqueline Askin, Nikolija Katanic and Katelyn Meyer all total eight over the course of the three sets.Â
- In addition, Katanic logged a .727 hitting percentage having eight kills on 11 attempts with no attack errors.Â
- Isabelle Marciniak led the Orange and Brown for assists on Saturday, totaling 28 against the Broncos.Â
- For digs, Taylor Haberland was atop the stat sheet for the Falcons, having 12 in the match.Â
- Jessi Holly and Katie Kidwell each contributed three block assists to the effort in the win. For Kidwell, her career total moves to 290, leaving her just 14Â shy of moving into ninth all-time for career block assists.Â
Up Next
- The Falcons will return to the Stroh Center on Oct. 18 and 19, facing Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan. Friday's match with Central will begin at 6 p.m. and will be Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night. As for Eastern Michigan on Saturday, the match will start at 5 p.m. and will be BGSU's Pink Game.Â
