Falcons To Host Pair Of Michigan Foes In Central And Eastern This Weekend

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball team will return to the Stroh Center this weekend for two more MAC matches, being against Central Michigan (Oct. 18) and Eastern Michigan (Oct. 19). Within the conference, the Falcons currently hold a 4-2 standing, which places them in a three-way tie for second in the MAC East with Ohio and Miami, trailing just Akron who is currently 5-1.Â
Next Home Match: Bowling Green will return to the Stroh Center on Oct. 18 to take on Central Michigan. Tickets for that match, and all BGSU home matches, can be purchased HERE.Â

Promotions Packed Weekend
The weekend will begin on Friday with a dual promotion match against Central Michigan with a 6 p.m. start. The game will serve as both the International Night as well as the Faculty/Staff Appreciation match. Discounted tickets will be made available to all BGSU Faculty and Staff while the first 50 fans will also receive a free t-shirt. On Saturday, the Falcons will host their Pink Game as part of Bowling Green's Pink Week. Discounted tickets will be available for cancer survivors and pink wristbands will be handed out to fans in attendance. Also, Saturday's game will feature a special ticket deal. Present your ticket from the football game against Central Michigan (taking place at 2 p.m.) and receive free admission to the volleyball match against the Eagles.Â
Last Time Out
The Falcons split last week, falling to Miami on Thursday (Oct. 10) 3-0 before recording a sweep of their own on Saturday (Oct. 12) against Western Michigan, marking the third straight Saturday sweep for the Falcons. In the win over the Broncos, Bowling Green saw a team effort lead to the victory, having Jacqueline Askin, Nikolija Katanic and Katelyn Meyer all total eight kills, topping the stat sheet. In addition to the eight kills, Katanic was near perfect, registering a .727 hitting percentage with eight kills on 11 attempts with no errors. Also, senior Jessi Holly returned to action for the Orange and Brown after missing time. Against WMU, Holly contributed three block assists and five kills in her return to action.Â
Scouting the Chippewas
Central Michigan will enter the weekend with a perfect MAC schedule intact, being 6-0 thus far. Of the six wins, four have been by a score of 3-1 coming against Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Ball State. The two remaining were decided by a sweep over Western Michigan and a 3-2 win over Toledo in their match last Saturday (Oct. 12). On the year, the Chippewas hold a 16-2 record with their two losses being to UIC (3-0) and DePaul (3-1), happening in back-to-back matches on Sept. 7 and 13. Of their 16 wins, seven came via sweep for CMU.Â
Scouting the Eagles
Entering the weekend, Eastern Michigan holds a 2-4 record in the MAC while being 7-11 overall. Most recently, the Eagles split last weekend, topping Toledo 3-1 while coming up short to Ball State 3-2. Eastern's other MAC victory, joining Toledo, was over Ohio by a score of 3-1. They also lost to Western Michigan via sweep, Northern Illinois (3-1) and Central Michigan (3-1). As for common non-conference opponents, the Eagles fell to Xavier 3-1 on Aug. 31, a team that the Falcons bested 3-1 later in the season on Sept. 20.
