Marciniak Jumps To Third All-Time In Career Assists Against Central Michigan

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program took on Central Michigan on Friday (Oct. 18) at the Stroh Center, falling in a 3-0 final. Each set played was settled by three points or less with the Chippewas having the advantage each time. The loss moves the Falcons to 10-9 on the season including a 4-3 MAC record while Central Michigan moves to 17-2 overall with a 7-0 conference standing atop the MAC West.Â

Play-By-Play Notes
- In the first set, after beginning down 5-0, the Falcons went on a 5-0 run of their own, headed by two service aces by Jessi Holly.Â
- After a tight set, Central pulled away at the end to take a 1-0 lead with a 25-22 first set score.
- In the second set, both teams saw momentum swings with the score being tied eight times, as well as eight lead changes. When the set was settled, Central found themselves on top, needing extra points to claim the 2-0 lead.
- The third set was more of the same, having 12 ties and 12 lead changes, but the Chippewas once again came out with the hard fought point at a 26-24 final, giving them the 3-0 win.Â
Strong Individual PerformancesÂ
- Isabelle Marciniak totaled 31 assists for the Falcons, moving her into third all-time for career assists in program history, surpassing both Laura Avila and Jodi Olson. The second-place mark is currently set at 3,779 with Marciniak having 3,409.Â
- Finding kills as a team, six Falcons logged kills in the match with five having at least six. Katelyn Meyer topped the list for Bowling Green with 11 while Nikolija Katanic registered seven, including a .357 hitting percentage.Â
- In her first home match of the season, senior Jessi Holly made an impact from the service line, accumulating three aces. In addition, Holly logged six kills and a block assist.
- Defensively, BGSU used a team approach with 10 of the 12 athletes to play logging at least one dig. Taylor Haberland and Julia Walz paced the Orange and Brown with 14 apiece, with both logging time as the libero during the match.Â
- The Falcons also totaled seven team blocks, one via solo while the remaining six came through assists. Katie Kidwell led the team in the category, knocking down four attacks at the net, all assists. Kidwell now needs just 10 block assists to move up on the all-time list.Â
Up Next
- The Falcons will return to the Stroh Center on Oct. 19, facing Eastern Michigan. Saturday's match will start at 5 p.m. and will be BGSU's Pink Game. Pink wristbands will be available for fans and discounted tickets will be offered to cancer survivors.
- Next weekend the Falcons will travel north to renew the Battle of I-75 against the rival Rockets on Friday with a 7 p.m. first serve. From there, BGSU will head to Muncie, Ind. to take on Ball State, also at 7 p.m.
