Falcons Open Regular Season With Strong Showing In Buffalo

Buffalo, N.Y. – The Bowling Green State University women's swim and dive team opened their regular season with a strong performance against Buffalo, Cornell, and Eastern Michigan. Sophomore Daisy Platts led the way for the Falcons, winning three events and setting personal bests in the 100-yard individual medley and 50-yard backstroke. Sarah Hennings added a first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, with Anna Eriksson placing in the top three in three events. Eriksson also obtained a personal best in the 50-yard butterfly. In her collegiate debut, freshman Taylor Harris finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
On the diving side, Talisa Lemke kicked off her senior campaign with a second place finish in the 1 meter dive and a third place finish in the 3 meter dive. Bowling Green saw success with their relay teams as well. The 400-yard medley relay team consisting of Platts, Harris, Hennings, and Lauren Sullivan finished second overall. Also finishing second was the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Sullivan, Platts, Maddy Andrews, and Shaunna Jones. Platts, Harris, Hennings, and Noelle Lavigne placed third in the 200-yard medley relay.

"It was a very good meet. We saw some great performances. We also saw that the training seems to be working. However, we still have a lot of work to do in order to be ready for MAC's in February."

The Falcons begin their home schedule when they host MAC opponent Ohio on Friday, Oct. 25. The meet begins at 5 p.m. in Cooper Pool. It will be a pink-out, as well as the Meserve Cup Meet. Admission is free, come support the Orange and Brown!

- Daisy Platts won the 100-yard IM with a time of 58.58 seconds, her personal best.
- Platts also set a personal best in the 50-yard backstroke, winning with a time of 25.96 seconds.
- Platts won the 100-yard backstroke as well, finishing in 55.57 seconds.
- Sarah Hennings won the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 57.24 seconds.
Top-Five Falcons
- Anna Eriksson (25.86 seconds) and Sarah Hennings (25.93 seconds) finished third and fourth in the 50-yard butterfly. Eriksson obtained a new personal best with her time.
- Eriksson placed second in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing behind Hennings in 57.52 seconds.
- Eriksson added a third place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, completing the race in 24.58 seconds.
- Freshman Gillian Boal placed fifth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.12 seconds.
- The 400-yard medley relay team (Platts, Harris, Hennings, Sullivan) finished in 3:54.20 to place second.
- The 200-yard medley relay team (Platts, Harris, Hennings, Lavigne) finished in 1:46.43 to place third.
- Lauren Sullivan claimed fifth place in the 50-yard backstroke, finishing in 27.31 seconds.
- Taylor Harris placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke, ending with a time of 1:07.13.
- The 400-yard freestyle relay team (Sullivan, Platts Andrews, Jones) placed second, finishing in 3:36.52.
- Talisa Lemke placed second in the 1 meter dive with a score of 285.45.
- Lemke earned a third place finish in the 3 meter dive, scoring 267.75.
