Bob Moosbrugger Named To NCAA Division I Baseball Committee
October 22, 2019 | Baseball, General
Bowling Green State University Director of Athletics Bob Moosbrugger has been appointed to a four-year term on the prestigious NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. Moosbrugger will be part of the 10-person committee that selects the annual 64-school tournament field.
Â
"I am humbled to be appointed to serve on the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee," Moosbrugger said. "I look forward to working with great administrators from around the country to continue the great tradition of the college baseball postseason, culminating with the College World Series."
Â
The NCAA Division I Baseball Committee is responsible for selecting, seeding and bracketing the annual 64-team tournament field. The NCAA Division I Baseball Championship includes three rounds of play - the regionals, super regionals and Men's College World Series. The men's College World Series is held in Omaha, Neb., each year.
Â
A baseball player while a student-athlete at BGSU, Moosbrugger earned the team's Don Woods Award as the top freshman in 1991 and was a two-year letter winner. He was named Bowling Green's Director of Athletics in May of 2016, becoming the fifth alumnus to serve as BGSU's Director of Athletics.
Â
Under Moosbrugger's leadership, BGSU has won in competition, in the classroom and in the community. Student-athletes amassed over 3,500 volunteer hours in 2018-19 and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.35, the highest recorded GPA in department history.
Â
In competition, the volleyball and women's soccer teams won MAC regular season championships in 2018-19. Women's soccer also won the MAC Tournament and played in the NCAA Tournament. The hockey team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Hockey Championships for the first time since 1990. Individually, BGSU has raked in individual MAC Championships from student-athletes such as Aliyah Gustafson, Kaila Butler, Talisa Lemke, Daisy Platts and Jovannah East.
