Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program captured a three-set sweep over Ohio on Saturday night (Nov. 2), marking the second time this season the Falcons have bested the Bobcats. After overcoming a 2-0 deficit in the first meeting to win 3-2, Bowling Green has now won six straight sets against Ohio this season. The win moves the Orange and Brown to 8-4 in the MAC while being 14-10 on the year.

Play-By-Play Notes

The Falcons utilized a quick start to mount a seven point lead early in the first set with Ohio calling the first timeout of the match at a score of 16-9, BGSU.
The momentum would roll through the timeout for Bowling Green, moving to a long last point in the first set to claim a 25-19 win, giving the Orange and Brown a 1-0 advantage.
A 4-0 run in the second set gave the Falcons a 12-10 lead followed by an Ohio timeout.
The Bobcats would take their second timeout with the score at 18-16, Bowling Green.
Ohio would bring the score close, seeing a few ties late in the set before the Orange and Brown called a timeout with the score knotted at 22.
The Falcons would use a 3-0 run out of the timeout to take the set and extend their lead to 2-0.
Bowling Green carried their momentum into the third set, jumping out to a 10-5 lead.
BGSU would hold on to that lead through the set with Ohio tempting a comeback a few times. However, the Falcons continued to take back momentum en route to a 25-19 set win to capture the sweep.

Strong Individual Performances

Katie Kidwell filled the stat sheet for the Falcons, registering five kills, four digs, one service ace, one block solo and one block assist. The two total blocks, moves her career total to 367, tying her with Carlyn Esslinger for 10th all-time for career total blocks.
Isabelle Marciniak logged her ninth double-double of the season, leading the team in assists with 36 while also adding 13 digs to her line. Additionally, Marciniak led the team in solo blocks with two, a season-high, while also logging a block assist.
On the attack, Katelyn Meyer led the way for Bowling Green, totaling 17 kills over the three sets. Meyer nearly had a double-double of her own, adding seven digs to her stat line.
Julia Walz was atop the stat sheet for digs on the night, totaling 19, amassing half of the needed amount to enter the top 10 all-time for digs in a single season. If Walz can log 19 more, she will become the eighth player in Coach Tomic's tenure to make the list, resulting in one player from each of Tomic's seasons entering the top 10.

Up Next

The Falcons will take to the road next weekend, traveling first to Buffalo and then to Akron. The match against Buffalo will be on Friday (Nov. 8) with a 2 p.m. first serve. From there, Bowling Green will head to Akron for a 7 p.m. start on Saturday (Nov. 9).
