Meyer, Walz Earn All-Conference Honors

Cleveland, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 20) the All-Conference Honorees for the regular season. Of those named, the Falcons claimed two recognitions. Sophomore Katelyn Meyer was named to the All-MAC First Team for the second time after being named last year as well. Sophomore Julia Walz was also recognized, being named an All-MAC Honorable Mention.Â

Meyer, a sophomore from Pemberville, Ohio, led BGSU in kills over the regular season, including 244 kills in conference play, maintaining a .227 hitting percentage and averaging 4.07 per set while playing in 60 of 62 MAC sets. All four of Meyer's 20+ kill matches came during MAC play. She also contributed defensively, logging three block solos and 15 block assists during conference play and adding 52 digs to her line also. From the service line, Meyer registered all four of her aces on the season against MAC opponents. Meyer was also named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, both following MAC weekends. This is the second time Meyer has been named to the All-MAC First Team after being named last year as well. She was also named to the All-Freshman Team a year ago.Â
Walz, a sophomore from Brooklyn, Ohio, was atop the digs column for Bowling Green throughout the season, including conference play notching 324 digs in conference matches from the libero position while only having 15 reception errors over 60 of 62 MAC sets. In addition, of Walz's team-leading 23 aces, 10 came against MAC opponents. Walz also offered assistance in the way of assists with over half of her season assists coming during MAC play with 63, including her lone double-double of the season against Ohio. Walz was named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week three times this season, twice following MAC weekends.Â
The Falcons will return to action on Friday (Nov. 22) at 7 p.m. as they face the winner of the Akron/Buffalo match, being played Thursday, in the second round of the MAC Tournament. Bowling Green is serving as the host for the entirety of the MAC Tournament. Tickets for BGSU's match and all tournament matches can be purchased HERE.Â
