Kidwell Totals Seven Blocks Against Buffalo, Moves To 10th All-Time For Career Blocks

Buffalo, N.Y. - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program traveled to snowy Buffalo to face the Bulls on Friday afternoon (Nov. 8) for a rare 2 p.m. first serve at the Alumni Arena with Buffalo being victorious, 3-1. The Falcons took the first set before the Bulls came back to win the match with wins in the second, third and fourth sets. The loss moves Bowling Green to 8-5 in the MAC while being 14-11 overall.Â

Play-By-Play Notes
- The Bulls and Falcons began the match going back-and-forth in the first set, needing a media timeout with the score at 15-13 Buffalo to stop the action.
- Out of the media timeout, Bowling Green nearly tied the match, getting the score within one, but a run by Buffalo would force a timeout from the Falcon bench with the score at 18-15.Â
- Out of the timeout, the Falcons used a 3-0 run to tie the match followed by a Buffalo timeout. BGSU continued the run, pushing it to 5-0 for a 20-18 lead.
- The momentum would carry through the set for the Falcons, leading to a set victory to claim a 1-0 advantage.
- In the first set, Bowling Green registered a .355 hitting percentage, being led by Katelyn Meyer registering eight kills on 12 attempts with just one error for a .583 hitting percentage.Â
- The second set would pause for a media timeout at 15-13, just like the first set. However, the second set saw two pauses prior for challenges, both from Bowling Green. The Falcons won one of the two challenges.Â
- Out of the timeout, the Falcons would soon use their third and final challenge, winning the challenge, to tie the match at 16-16.Â
- A 3-0 run would follow closely for the Orange and Brown, taking a 20-18 lead and forcing a timeout from Buffalo.Â
- The Bulls closed in, moving the score to 21-20 Bowling Green with a timeout being called from the Falcons' bench.Â
- The lead was extended by the Falcons to 22-20, but a 3-0 run by Buffalo would swing the score to favor the Bulls, 23-22, forcing another BGSU timeout.Â
- From there, the Bulls closed out the set with a 25-23 win, tying the match at a set each. Â
- In the third set, the Bulls began out in front thanks to a 4-0 run, giving them a 9-6 advantage on the scoreboard.Â
- The set would continue to be close seeing multiple ties and momentum shifts, concluding with 25-23 set win for Buffalo.
- The fourth set began similarly to the third with Buffalo leading 9-5 at the first stoppage.Â
- The set would grow to a 15-7 lead for the Bulls with another timeout being called by Bowling Green.Â
- Buffalo would conclude the match with a 25-16 set win in the fourth.
Strong Individual PerformancesÂ
- Katie Kidwell totaled seven blocks over the course of the match, one solo and six assists, moving her career total to 374 total blocks, putting her 10th all-time. The six block assists also give her 317 career block assists, placing her just five away from moving up to eighth all-time.
- Katelyn Meyer began the match on the attack, going five-for-five to start, setting up a 24-kill match, her third 20+ kill match in the last four.Â
- Isabelle Marciniak nearly had another double-double, logging 39 assists and eight digs. Marciniak now has 3,650 career assists, needing 130 to move up to second in program history.Â
- With 18 digs, Julia Walz now has 497 on the season, tying her with Chrissy Gothke for 10th all-time in a single season. This marks the eighth consecutive season that a Falcon has entered the top 10 all-time for digs in a season with one player adding their name in each of Coach Tomic's seasons at the helm of the program.Â

- The Falcons will conclude their final road trip of the regular season on Saturday night (Nov. 9) taking on the Akron Zips with a 7 p.m. start time.Â
- Bowling Green will return to the Stroh Center on Thursday night (Nov. 14) to face Miami with a 6 p.m. start. The match will be Future Falcons Kids Club Night, featuring post-match autographs. Additionally, it will be Greek Night and the Meserve Cup match.Â
- The Orange and Brown will conclude the regular season on Saturday night (Nov. 16), taking on Northern Illinois for a 5 p.m. first serve. The match will be both Senior Night and Frozen Night with one fan winning two tickets to see Frozen 2 in theaters.Â
