Sasaki And Bettinelli Named MAC Doubles Team Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Junior Ayumi Sasaki and sophomore Marta Bettinelli of Bowling Green State University's tennis program were named MAC Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week, as announced Wednesday (Feb. 13) afternoon.
Over the past weekend, Sasaki and Bettinelli went 2-1 at No. 3 doubles. The duo began the weekend at home against Saint Louis University, where they defeated Mika Misgav and Alana Bourgeois, jumping out to a 3-0 lead before securing the victory by a score of 6-3.
Sasaki and Bettinelli continued the weekend at Michigan State, coming up short in the match, but finished strong. On Sunday (Feb. 10), the Falcon duo earned a hard fought victory against Cleveland State's Isabella Spindler and Sian Payne. After starting down 3-2, Sasaki and Bettinelli won the match 8-6, clinching the doubles point for Bowling Green.
This is the first time this season that Sasaki and Bettinelli have been named Doubles Team of the Week. Last season, Sasaki received recognition when her and Polina Radeva were named following victories against Chicago State and Xavier.
Sasaki and Bettinelli, along with the rest of the BGSU tennis team, will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Pittsburgh to face the Panthers. The match set to begin at 3 p.m. and will be the Falcons' lone match of the weekend.
