February 25, 2019 | Women's Swimming & Diving
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team will be traveling to Akron, Ohio this week to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships. Beginning on Wednesday (Feb. 27), the competition will run through Saturday (March 2). During the regular season, the Falcons recorded an 8-5 record, while posting a 2-3 standing within the MAC. BGSU's two wins in the conference came against Ball State and Toledo.
End On A High Note
To close out the regular season, Bowling Green concluded with one of the largest margins of victory over rival Toledo, winning 223-129. The win was the Falcons' sixth in a row against the Rockets, continuing a streak that began during the 2013-14 season. The 94 point margin stacks up as the second highest during the streak with a 101 point victory in 2016-17 as the biggest. In the meet against Toledo, BGSU captured 16 first place finishes, including a pool record set by Daisy Platts in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:58.02.
Looking Back At Last Year
At the 2018 MAC Championships, the Falcons came away with a fifth place finish highlighted by a new school record for Talisa Lemke in the 3-meter dive, earning a 366.45 in the finals. Lemke also posted a school record in the one-meter as well, resulting in being named Co-MAC Diver of the Year and being named to the All-MAC First Team. Following, Lemke along with Claire Stam and Ashley White advanced to the NCAA Diving Zones.
Players On Watch
After breaking the school record at last year's MAC Championships, Lemke will be looking to claim first place in the dive competitions. In addition, Daisy Platts has won the 100 Backstroke the last two meets, as well as the 200 Backstroke the last three meets. Kellie House has also finished first for the Falcons in the 500 Freestyle in two of the last three meets.
