Athletics Announces Plans To Celebrate 100th Anniversary Of BGSU Football

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Department of Athletics will celebrate the 100th anniversary of BGSU Football throughout the 2019 season, highlighted by a celebration of the first century of BGSU Football when the Falcons host Toledo Oct. 12. In conjunction with 100 years of BGSU Football, the department will take part in the year-long celebration of 150 years of college football.

While Bowling Green has completed 100 seasons of football, the first game in program history took place on Oct. 3, 1919 against Toledo. In recognition of the beginning of the program, BGSU is in the planning stage for many events.
At the April 20 spring game, BGSU Athletics will begin by releasing a centennial poster for fans. Throughout the spring and summer months, a countdown of the 100 greatest players in program history will be released on BGSUFalcons.com, along with decade-by-decade recaps.
A uniform patch recognizing 150 years of college football will be introduced and the department will welcome back the BGSU Football alumni who built the foundation for one of the winningest programs in Mid-American Conference history as the Falcons host Toledo.

They include Heroes Day on Thursday, Aug. 29 against Morgan State, Homecoming on Saturday, Sept. 14 against Louisiana Tech, Family Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 12 against Toledo, the Pink Game and Band & Cheer Day on Oct. 19 against Central Michigan, Senior Day on Nov. 2 against Akron, and Men's Health Awareness on Tuesday, Nov. 19 vs. Ohio.
