CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Top-seeded Buffalo used a late run to break open a close game, and the Bulls went on to an 87-73 win over the Bowling Green men's basketball team in the Mid-American Conference Tournament's championship game Saturday night (March 16) at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland.
The game was much closer than the final score might indicate. The Falcons were within three points, 74-71, after a pair of Demajeo Wiggins free throws with 4:25 to go, but a Jayvon Graves three-pointer put the Bulls ahead by six and began a late UB run.
Daeqwon Plowden and Justin Turner each had 16 points to pace four double-digit scorers for BGSU. Wiggins had 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Michael Laster added 13 points for the Orange and Brown.
The Falcons, who were picked to finish last in the MAC's East Division in the preseason coaches poll, are now 22-12 overall, and will await their postseason tournament fate.
All-Tournament Team
CJ Massinburg - Buffalo
Jeremy Harris - Buffalo
Demajeo Wiggins - Bowling Green
Dylan Frye - Bowling Green
Eugene German - Northern Illinois
COACH HUGER QUOTE
