
Falcons Fall to Minnesota State In Hard Fought WCHA Championship Game

MANKATO, Minn. – The Bowling Green State University hockey team fell in a hard fought contest to decide the champion of the WCHA Tournament on Saturday (March 23) night to the Mavericks of Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Falcons dropped the contest 3-2 in overtime. Bowling Green scored twice on 19 shots on goal. Frederic Letourneau and Alec Rauhauser tallied goals for Bowling Green in the contest. MSU would tally two goals with an extra attacker within the final two minutes of play to tie the game before regulation time expired. The Mavericks would score the game-winning goal in overtime.

- It was Frederic Letourneau who would open the scoring for BGSU 14:56 into the first period of play. He was assisted on the play by Taylor Schneider and Will Cullen.
- Alec Rauhauser would score 1:28 into the third period off a five minute power play face-off earned by BGSU. Max Johnson and Connor Ford would get assists.
- Minnesota State's Jake Jaremko would score for MSU at 18:16 into the third period. The Mavericks added an extra skater while pulling goaltender McKay. Riese Zmolek and Max Coatta would assist him.
- Connor Mackey would score another for the Mavericks with a minute left to play in regulation. Jack McNeely and Parker Tuomie would earn assists.
- Nick Rivera would score 1:37 into overtime for Minnesota State. Josh French and Shane McMahan would assist him.

- Frederic Letourneau scored the opening goal for the Falcons, which was his fifth point tallied in the WCHA Playoffs for Bowling Green.
- Alec Rauahuser has recorded a point in three straight games. The junior defenseman has recorded four points this post-season.
- Connor Ford extends his point streak to five games in a row. He has seven total points in the Falcons' post-season play.
- Max Johnson's assist in tonight's contest was his eleventh point of the post-season for the Orange and Brown.
- Freshman blueliner Will Cullen has extended his point streak to two straight contests with assist versus MSU tonight.
