• The fourth inning saw Rachel Everson hit a ball up the middle, but second baseman Nikki Sorgi ranged to her right to track it down and fire to Natham at first for the third out.
• Miller retired the side in order in the fifth, striking out the first and last hitters, then whiffed Brooke Imel to begin the sixth. Camryn Mosher, however, then hit a ball up the middle and into center to break up the no-hit bid.
• One out later, Wilzbacher reached on a base hit, taking second when the Falcons threw to third in an attempt to get pinch-runner Sydney Windlan. Then, a wild pitch scored what proved to be the Mastodons' only run before Morganne Denny's soft liner was caught by Hamm in shallow right.
