Lemke, Platts Named First Team All-MAC For Swimming And Diving

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Junior Talisa Lemke and freshman Daisy Platts of Bowling Green State University's swimming and diving program were named First Team All-MAC, as announced following the MAC Championships Saturday (March 2) evening.
For Daisy Platts, she came away with the individual MAC Championship in the 200 Backstroke, taking first place with a time of 1:54.52, nearly a full second ahead of the second place finisher and set a new program record in the event. Last set in 2015, the record was previously held by Estela Davis Ortiz with a time of 1:57.02. Platts had previously broke the Toledo pool record in the event in the previous meet with a time of 1:58.02, earning her MAC Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Â This is the first time that Platts has been named First Time All-MAC.
Talisa Lemke successfully defended her 1-meter dive championship, while also adding the 3-meter dive to her list of MAC accomplishments. Her score of 307.20 in the 1-meter dive secured her second MAC Championship in a row in the event, topping second place by 225.25 points. As for the 3-meter dive, Lemke received a score of 302.10, holding off second place by 4.4 points. This is the second time that Lemke has been named First Team All-MAC after being named following last year's (2017-18) MAC Championships. In 2016-17, as a freshman, she was named Second Team All-MAC and MAC Freshman Diver of the Year.
Lemke will have the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be held from Wednesday, March 20 to Saturday, March 23. The final list of divers will be determined by performances at the Zone Diving Meets, which will begin this coming Monday (March 11) and run through Saturday, March 16. The selected divers for the NCAA Championships will be announced on Sunday, March 17.
