BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team finished strong at the ninth-annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, posting a team score of 299 on Sunday (April 7) afternoon to move up two spots on the leaderboard. The Falcons finished in third place after posting the second-best round of the day. The BGSU-hosted event was held at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green.
The Falcons went 3-1 versus MAC schools. Oakland won the tournament by recording a team score of 592. Ohio placed second with a 598. Ohio's Emily Hughes took home the individual championship for the second-straight year, as she carded a 146 on the weekend.
Bowling Green was led by senior Erin Fahey, who turned in an even-par 72 to move up 19 spots on the individual leaderboard. Fahey's 72 was the second-best round of the day, and propelled her to a tied for eighth-place finish. Fahey birdied her final hole to get to even par.
Fellow senior Julia Durkin registered a top-10 finish, as well. Durkin finished tied for 10th after carding rounds of 75 and 76. Durkin's 151 for the tournament was one stroke shy of Fahey's mark of 150.
Junior Jessica Madry turned in the shot of the tournament. Madry posted a hole-in-one on the par three No. 16. The hole-in-one marked the first of Madry's career. The junior played the back nine on the afternoon at even par.
Nichole Cox posted three birdies on the front nine on her way to a final-round 75. The sophomore made a two-stroke improvement over the final 18 holes to finish tied for 12th. BGSU's lineup was rounded out by efforts from Sammi Blackburn (T-25), Katie Whitfield (T-35), Dani Austinson (T-35) and Sarah Kern (40).
