BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis program released their 2019-20 schedule for the upcoming season. Coming off of a 10-10 2018-19 season, the Falcons will look to bounce back to the top of the Mid-American Conference.Â
Full Schedule can be found HERE.
The Orange and Brown will open the fall season by hosting the BGSU Invite on Sept. 13 and 14. Last season, athletes from BGSU captured both singles titles, as well as having the runner-up in each bracket. Similarly, Bowling Green supplied the championship duos in both doubles brackets, and the runner-ups of one and half of the teams, with Marta Bettinelli partnering with a member of the Toledo team.Â
In the fall, the tennis team will also travel to compete in the Purdue Invite (Sept. 20-22), the Cincinnati Invite (Oct. 11-12), the ITA Regionals (Oct. 16-22), being played in East Lansing, Mich. and the Buffalo Invite (Nov. 1-3).Â
After a brief hiatus, Bowling Green will resume play for their spring schedule on Jan. 18, traveling back to Purdue and also facing Notre Dame in the same trip. This will be the fifth consecutive year that the Falcons will travel to face the Fighting Irish.
The Orange and Brown will open the home half of the spring schedule on Friday, Jan. 24, hosting Youngstown State. Bowling Green will also play host to three other non-conference opponents, being St. Francis University (Feb. 21), Indiana Tech (March 6) and Oakland (March 14).
As for the rest of the non-conference schedule, BGSU will be on the road heading to Cleveland State (Feb. 9), Louisville (Feb. 15), Indianapolis (Feb. 23) and Illinois State (Feb. 29).
Bowling Green will begin conference play on March 22, hosting Akron. Staying at home, they will then face Ball State on March 27 before traveling to Northern Illinois for the first road MAC match of the season on March 29. The Falcons will also host Buffalo (April 3) and Eastern Michigan (April 12) within the conference. On the road, MAC opponents will feature Western Michigan (April 5), Miami (April 10) and Toledo (April 19).Â
In the MAC, Bowling Green finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 3-4 standing, including a home win over Toledo that came down to the final singles match.Â
