2019-20 BGSU Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program released its non-conference schedule for the 2019-20 season on Wednesday (Aug. 28), head coach Michael Huger announced. The Falcons will play six regular-season home games inside the Stroh Center prior to league play beginning.
"We are excited for a competitive slate of non-conference games that we feel will prepare us for MAC play," said Huger. "An early-season matchup against LSU will be a great measuring stick for our veteran team. Additionally, participating in the Paradise Jam, one of the premier tournaments in the country, will give us the opportunity to earn some quality wins and compete against some great programs.
"Road games in Miami (Fla.) and Atlantic City (N.J.) will give us the opportunity to get Dylan, Joniya, Marlon, Daeqwon, Caleb and Matiss close to home to play in front of their family and friends. Home games against competitive mid-major teams will provide great competition inside the Stroh Center and help create a MAC-level atmosphere."
After an exhibition contest versus Findlay on Oct. 30 in Bowling Green, the Falcons will open the 2019-20 regular season against Tiffin on Nov. 5 at Stroh Center.
On Nov. 8, the Falcons will travel down to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to face the Louisiana State Tigers. LSU went 28-7 and reached the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Tournament in 2018-19. The Tigers went 16-2 in Southeastern Conference play to capture the league's regular-season crown. LSU is a consensus Top-25 team according to preseason publications.
In addition to the Tiffin game, Bowling Green is set to play five other non-conference games at the Stroh Center: Fairmont State (Nov. 15), Dartmouth (Nov. 30), Oakland (Dec. 7), Cleveland State (Dec. 15) and Hartford (Dec. 31).
BGSU will play a neutral site game versus Jacksonville on Nov. 11 at the University of Miami's Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida.
The Falcons will play in a pair of multiple-team events. Over Nov. 22-25, Bowling Green will participate in the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands. BGSU will open the tournament on Nov. 22 versus Western Kentucky. A 20-win team from last season, WKU is led by center Charles Bassey – an All-American candidate and expected first-round NBA draft pick in 2020. In the next round, the Falcons will play either Cincinnati or Illinois State. Cincinnati won 28 games and reached the NCAA Tournament in 2018-19. Another tournament participant, Nevada, was a seven seed in the NCAA Tournament a season ago after winning 29 games. Full information on the event can be found by CLICKING HERE.
In the Boardwalk Battle event in Atlantic City on Dec. 20, the Falcons will play an opening-round game against Norfolk State. The following day, Bowling Green will take on Drexel or Quinnipiac.
The Mid-American Conference schedule will be announced by the league office at a later date.
