The Battle Of The Bowling Greens: Falcons To Compete In WKU Invitational This Weekend

Bowling Green, Ohio - For the third invitational of the season, BGSU will travel from Bowling Green, Ohio to Bowling Green, Kentucky to take on Western Kentucky, Tulane and Ohio State. In tournament play this season, the Falcons have a 4-2 record, including a 3-0 showing at the Hampton Inn Bowling Green Invitational. The matchup with the Hilltoppers will be the first in program history while the matchup with the Green Wave is the second, the last being in 2002 with the Falcons being victorious in five sets. As for Ohio State, the Falcons will be looking for their first series win with the last meeting being in 2009.

Last Time Out
The Falcons came out on top of a close match with Oakland, needing five sets to claim the victory. The win marks the fourth consecutive for the Falcons and moves their season record to 5-2. Additionally, the win came on Coach Tomic's birthday, meaning BGSU is now 3-0 when playing on her birthday.Â
Scouting the Hilltoppers
BGSU will play host Western Kentucky for the first time in program history at the invitational. The Battle of the Bowling Greens will feature a 6-1 Hilltoppers team that has four sweeps on the season, including one against the Falcons' rival, Toledo. The lone loss of the season for Western Kentucky came at the hands of No. 24 Louisville. WKU also topped the Power 5 school, Arizona State at the same invitational that they lost to Louisville.
Scouting the Green Wave
Entering with a 6-2 record, Tulane's only losses this season have come against Southeastern Louisiana and Ole Miss, both going five sets. As for their wins, all but one have come via sweep. The matchup between the Green Wave and the Falcons will be the second in program history between the two teams. The last meeting was in 2002 with Bowling Green winning in five sets.Â
Scouting the Buckeyes
Ohio State will enter the invitational holding a 3-3 record so far this season. The Buckeyes most recently participated in a tournament in Pittsburgh, beating Duquesne, but falling to Green Bay and No. 10 ranked Pittsburgh. The other two wins for the Scarlet and Gray have come against VCU and Lehigh, while also losing to Texas Tech. As a program, the Falcons have an 0-10 standing against the Buckeyes with the last meeting being in 2009, before Coach Tomic took over the program at BGSU.Â
