Falcons Fall To Western Kentucky To Begin Play At Holiday Inn-University Plaza Invitational

Bowling Green, Ky. - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program fell to Western Kentucky on Friday by a score of 3-0, marking the first time this season that Bowling Green has been on the wrong end of a sweep. The loss moves the team's record to 5-3 on the year with two more games scheduled in Bowling Green, Ky. tomorrow, taking on Tulane and Ohio State.Â

Play-By-Play Notes
- The first set was one of few offensive errors for the Falcons, committing just one attack error and one service error over the duration of the set.Â
- After trailing by as many as seven in the second set, BGSU closed the margin to four before the Hilltoppers claimed the second set.Â
- Bowling Green made a few key runs in the third set, but were unable to overcome the Western Kentucky attack.
Strong Individual PerformancesÂ
- With 20 assists in Friday's match, Isabelle Marciniak stands just 41 assists way from tying fifth all-time for the Falcons in the category, now with 3,068 in her career.Â
- Julia Walz once again led the team in digs, tallying 17 while also registering a team high two service aces in the match.
- As for kills, BGSU used a team approach, seeing four athletes have six or more, being led by Petra Indrova with eight.Â
Up Next
- Next up for BGSU at the WKU Holiday Inn-University Plaza Invitational in Bowling Green, Ky. will be a Saturday double-header against Tulane and Ohio State. The first match will take place at 12 p.m. followed by their second at 5 p.m.Â
- Bowling Green will close their non-conference schedule by participating in the Queen City Classic, playing Cincinnati and Xavier on Sept. 20 and 21.
