Wade, Kennedy Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week
September 02, 2019 | Football, General, Women's Soccer
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Darius Wade and women's soccer player Maureen Kennedy.
Male Athlete of the Week
Darius Wade, a graduate transfer senior from Middletown, Del., completed 22-of-32 passes for 253 yards and three touchdowns in BGSU Football's 46-3 season-opening win over Morgan State. He added 42 rushing yards for 295 yard of offense and had no interceptions. Wade completed passes to eight different receivers and helped guide an offense that went 9-for-17 on third down and earned 37 first downs, just two shy of the school record.

Female Athlete of the Week
Maureen Kennedy, a senior from Cypress, Calif., contributed to a Falcon victory at both ends of the field last week. In BG's lone match of the week, Kennedy opened the scoring with what proved to be the winning goal in the 10th minute of a 2-0 victory over Valparaiso. The goal was her second of the young season. Kennedy also spearheaded a BG defensive effort which limited the Crusaders to just three total shot attempts -- and zero shots on goal -- over the 90 minutes.
