BGVB Completes Sweep Over Kent State To Improve To 2-0 In The MAC

Kent, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program came away with a sweep victory over the Kent State Golden Flashes on Saturday (Sept. 28) with a final score of 3-0. The Falcons overcame a deficit in two of the three sets, including the third, winning 26-24 to complete the sweep. The win moves Bowling Green's record to 8-6 on the year with a 2-0 MAC standing. As for Kent State, they fall to 7-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.Â

Play-By-Play Notes
- The Falcons began down in the first set, falling behind by as many as three, before storming back for yet another come-from-behind set victory for the weekend, winning 25-21 to take and early advantage.Â
- In the second set, the Orange and Brown carried over the momentum they built in the first set, leading for most of the second, concluding with a 2-0 advantage for the Falcons in the match.Â
- Trailing by as many as four on multiple occasions during the third set, the Falcons battled back to bring the score to 21-20, forcing a timeout by Kent State.Â
- From there, Bowling Green and Kent State played closely for the remainder of the set before the Falcons took the match via sweep through a 26-24 win.
Strong Individual PerformancesÂ
- Katelyn Meyer continued to swing consistently for the Falcons, leading the team in kills for the match with 15, including a .481 hitting percentage.Â
- Also in kills, Katie Kidwell logged a season-high 14 against the Golden Flashes with a hitting percentage of .619 on 21 attempts. Kidwell also contributed three block assists on the defensive end.
- Isabelle Marciniak led the Falcons again in assists, this time with 42 marking the sixth time this season she had surpassed the 40 assists mark.Â
- As for digs, Julia Walz was atop the stat sheet for Bowling Green with 13.Â
- As a team, BGSU totaled three service aces with one coming from Marciniak, Meyer and Jacqueline Askin.
Up Next
- The Falcons will return to the Stroh Center next week to kickoff the home portion of their conference schedule, taking on Akron on Friday (Oct. 4) and Buffalo on Saturday (Oct. 5)
- The match against Akron will have a first serve of 6 p.m. and will be an Orange Out for all Falcon fans with the first 50 receiving a free t-shirt.Â
- As for Buffalo on Saturday, the match will begin at 5 p.m. and will be Heroes Day. The first 100 fans will receive a Freddie Falcon Military Bobblehead. Following the match will also be player autographs.Â
