BGSU Posts Strong Day One At The Firestone Invitational

Akron, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team opened up play at the Firestone Invitational shooting a team score of 580 (+4) on the day which currently puts the Falcons in sixth place and just one stroke back of fifth place.
It was a mostly well-balanced attack on the day for BG with three of the five Falcons in the rotation finishing within the top 20 individually. Tom North and Nick Hofland both shot 144 on the day making them even for the tournament. Each are currently T-12th.
Hofland currently leads the playing field in Par 4 scoring average with a score of 3.79 and is in total -4 on Par 4s throughout day one.
Tom North played a steady first two rounds and is currently in first place among the playing field with 27 pars.
Rodrigue Vie was the other Falcon to land in the top 20 where Vie shot a 145 (+1) in both rounds and was steady for BG. Vie has four birdies through two rounds including the lone eagle on the day for the Orange and Brown.
Ward Kyle, in his 2019-20 debut for the Falcons, shot a 149 (+5) which currently has him T-46th. Kyle has eight birdies through two rounds. Also shooting a 149 (+5) is Curtis Hughes who is playing as an individual. Hughes shot an opening round score of 71 and has three birdies and the second most pars, 25, on the tournament for the Falcons.
Rounding it out for the Falcons was Ian Mackenzie-Olson, who shot a 152 (+8) on the day for BG which puts him T-57th. Mackenzie-Olson has five birdies through two rounds.
The Firestone Invitational will conclude tomorrow with a shotgun start of 8:30 p.m. ET.
