Butler’s Career Day Anchors Falcons At Wolverine Invitational

Ann Arbor, Mich. – Redshirt junior Kaila Butler posted a career-best in the weight throw, a mark that ranks among the top 20 in the country, as Bowling Green shook off the rust of a month off Saturday at the Wolverine Invitational. The meet was the Falcons' first of 2020 after opening the season in early December at home.

BUTLER IMPRESSES
- Kaila Butler posted a mark of 66-feet-9.75 (20.36m) to place second in the weight throw at the Wolverine Invitational. That distance positions her around the top 15 in the country.
- On three of Butler's six tosses, she recorded a distance that would have been her career-best prior to the meet.
- Debbie Ajagbe, of Miami (Fla.), won the meet at 68-9.75. That distance is among the top 10 nationally.
- After fouling on her first attempt, Butler had a throw of 19.68m on her second and 19.23m on her third. In the finals, Butler stepped up even more with consecutive tosses of 20.02m, 20.36m and 19.80m.
- Butler is one of four student-athletes in the MAC to earn an automatic qualifying bid to the MAC Championship in the weight throw, but she ranks first in the conference.

- Redshirt freshman Katie Seyfang placed third in the shot put with a distance of 47-10 (14.58m). That distance is nine inches further than she threw in her first collegiate meet in December. She ranks second in the conference in the event.
- Sophomore Ayanna Burrell had a personal best long jump performance, leaping 17-10.25 (5.44m). That mark moves her into the top 10 in the conference.
- Freshman Jemeila Hunter trimmed time of her collegiate personal best in the 60, running a time of 7.75 seconds. She was 5/1000s of a second from qualifying for finals.
- In the 60 hurdles, senior Chasatea Brown cut .19 seconds off her time from the BG Opener, running the event in 9.15 seconds.
- Ryen Draper placed fifth in the 200 with a time of 24.88 seconds. She paced four Falcons in the event.

- Bowling Green will host Toledo Friday for the annual dual meet between the two programs. The meet will begin at 5:00 pm at Perry Field House on BGSU's campus.
