Sock Toss To Take Place At Jan. 28 Men’s Basketball Game
January 23, 2020 | Men's Basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – A sock toss will take place at the Jan. 28 men's basketball game versus Ball State. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start inside the Stroh Center. Fans are encouraged to bring newly-packaged socks to the game (girl's and women's socks needed and preferred).
Participants will be instructed to throw the socks onto the court at a designated time at halftime. The socks will be collected and donated to Hannah's Socks, which helps the community. Additionally, the BGSU University Activities Organization (UAO) will be getting pizza for students, on top of handing out 100 pairs of fun socks to students in the student section.
Info About Hannah's Socks
Hannah's Socks is a community based non-profit organization dedicated to helping people affected by homelessness, poverty and domestic abuse in Ohio and Southeast Michigan. We collect and donate new socks to those in need through shelter homes, public schools and direct distribution. What began as the simple, intuitive wish of a four-year old girl to give a homeless man her socks has blossomed into a successful, nationally-recognized program that has helped hundreds of thousands of people in need and raised the awareness of how a simple act can change the face of poverty and homelessness in our region.
Quote from Robin Laird, Executive Director at Hannah's Socks
"We're thrilled to be partnering with BGSU for this event. Socks are the number one most requested item in a homeless shelter, so this drive will allow us to continue our mission of, " Providing Dignity One Pair of Socks at a Time."
