Glowniak, Hempfling, Parker Named Captains of 2020-21 Falcons
November 10, 2020 | Women's Basketball
Seniors Clare Glowniak and Madisen Parker and junior Kadie Hempfling have been named captains of the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team for the 2020-21 season.
"Madisen, Clare and Kadie were deservingly selected captains for the 2020-2021 season by the team," said head coach Robyn Fralick. "I am so excited for these three as they have earned this position through what they do and how they communicate.
"Something that stands out among these three is their incredible pride in Bowling Green State University and the program. They believe deeply in the core values of the program and are willing to sacrifice for the team and pour into the program. I am excited for them and our team under their leadership."
Glowniak, a native of Corunna, Mich. (Flushing HS), enters her fifth year with the Falcons. She has played in a total of 84 games, making 24 starts, since arriving on campus. Last winter, she saw action in 25 games, averaging 2.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest and shooting 53.3 percent from the field. Glowniak, who has been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team in each of the last three seasons, started eight contests in 2017-18 and made 15 starts the following year. She scored a career-high 11 points against nationally-ranked Louisville during her freshman season.
Hempfling, from Ottawa, Ohio (Ottawa-Glandorf HS), has played in all 61 of BGSU's games during her first two seasons. After coming off the bench to make her collegiate debut, she has been in the starting lineup for each of the last 60 contests. Hempfling averaged 6.0 ppg as a freshman, and led the team in both rebounds (7.3 rpg) and assists (4.0 apg) that winter. Last year, Hempfling was fourth on the team with 9.0 ppg, and again led the Falcons in rebounding and assists. She had 7.5 boards and 4.9 helpers in her sophomore season, and was ranked in the top-10 in the MAC in four statistical categories. She finished the season ranked 30th in the entire country in total assists and 42nd in assists per game. Hempfling, who was named to the Academic All-MAC Team, was one of just two players in the MAC with three games of 10 assists or more last season, and she had a team-leading five double-doubles.
Parker, a native of Fort Wayne, Ind. (Homestead HS), started all 31 games a year ago and has now played in 87 games, starting 33, as a Falcon. Last winter, she averaged 12.1 ppg to rank third on the team in scoring, and Parker led the entire nation in three-point field-goal percentage. Parker shot 48.0 percent from the arc, making a school-record 98 long-range shots in 204 attempts. She became the first Falcon in five years to be named to the Academic All-District First Team, selected by CoSIDA, and was named to the Academic All-MAC Team for the second-straight season. Parker was named BGSU's Female Junior Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the Ziggys, the athletic department's year-end awards banquet. That honor is given to just one male and one female athlete in the junior class at BGSU. In addition to leading the country in long-distance accuracy, Parker was sixth in the land in total three-pointers made and ninth in triples made per game. She is tied for 11th in school history with 143 career treys made, and ranks second in BG annals in career three-point percentage (43.2%).

Glowniak, Hempfling and Parker are three of nine returnees on the 2020-21 roster. That trio is joined by seniors Mari Hill and Angela Perry, redshirt sophomore Molly Dever, true sophs Elissa Brett and Olivia Trice and redshirt freshman Macy Spielman. Dever and Spielman missed the 2019-20 campaign due to injury.
The nine returning players are joined by six true freshmen on the '20-21 roster. The newcomers include Jasmine Clerkley, Sophie Dziekan, Lexi Fleming, Nyla Hampton, Olivia Hill and Kenzie Lewis.
