Johnson, Perry Named Medical Mutual Athletes Of The Week
November 23, 2020 | General, Ice Hockey, Women's Cross Country
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Medical Mutual Athletes of the Week, as selected by the strategic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Max Johnson and cross country runner Kailee Perry.
Male Athlete of the Week
Max Johnson, a forward from Lakeville, Minn., logged two goals for the second consecutive game. In the 5-0 win over Adrian on Saturday (Nov. 21), Johnson scored the first and last goals of the game for the Falcons, which included the game-winner. The game-winning goal was the second of the season for Johnson in as many games. The two scores also pushed his career total to 102 career points, tying him for 68th in program history.Â
Female Athlete of the Week
Kailee Perry, a redshirt freshman from West Liberty, Ky., won the MAC Cross Country Championship Saturday with a time of 20:41. She is the first BGSU MAC champion in women's cross country since 1995 and the first NCAA National qualifier since 1998. Perry was also named the MAC Freshman of the Year, joining Rachel Walny as the only winners from BGSU in program history for that honor. Perry was just 16 seconds shy of Walny's school record 6K time.
