Ford, Fleming Named Medical Mutual Athletes Of The Week
December 21, 2020 | General, Ice Hockey, Women's Basketball
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Medical Mutual Athletes of the Week, as selected by the strategic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Max Johnson and women's basketball player Lexi Fleming.
Male Athlete of the Week
Connor Ford, a senior from Pittsburgh, Pa., amassed four points over two games en route to the Falcons sweeping No. 11 Quinnipiac. In Friday's game (Dec. 18) Ford logged an assist before having a three-point game on Saturday night (Dec. 19). In Saturday's contest, Ford was able to net the game-winning goal on the power play while also assisting on another power play goal and an empty-net score.Â
Female Athlete of the Week
Lexi Fleming, a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, had a game-high 18 points in BGSU's lone game of the week, a 76-61 win at Morehead State. In addition to her point total, Fleming had seven rebounds and five steals, the highest totals of her young career in each category. The Falcons led by double digits for much of the second half, but when MSU made a run to cut BG's lead to nine points, Fleming went on her own personal run, scoring the game's next seven points, and the lead remained in double digits for the rest of the game.
