Falcons Defeat Xavier On First Day Of Earl Yestingmeier Match Play

The Orange and Brown split matches on day one
DADE CITY, Fla. The Bowling Green State University men's golf team opened its spring season Monday (Feb. 10), going 1-1 at the Earl Yestingmeier Match Play. The event is being held at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club and is being hosted by Ball State University.
Bowling Green was defeated, 4-2, in the opening round by Drake but rebounded with a 2-0 victory of its own over Xavier in the consolation bracket. The Orange and Brown will take on fellow MAC foe Ball State tomorrow (Feb. 11) in the fifth place match.
Rodrigue Vie and Tom North secured two victories in the first match. Vie picked up his second victory in the second round with Dylan Fitchet, Nick Hofland and Ian Mackenzie-Olson also winning their matches.
Vie was the lone Falcon to record two victories on the day. Vie is tied for the lead among all golfers at the event with a 4.25 Par 5 scoring average (-6) and has the most eagles (2) among any golfer. North is also tied for first among all golfers with a 2.88 scoring average on all Par 3 holes (-1).

The match play event will conclude tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. BG will then take part in their next event over Feb. 24-25 in the Border Olympics, hosted by the University of Houston in Laredo, Texas.
