Falcons Open 2020 MAC Championships With Relay Medal Performance

Buffalo, N.Y. – The Bowling Green State University swim and dive team opened the 2020 MAC Championships with a third place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, earning the program's first MAC Relay medal since 2016. The quartet of Daisy Platts, Taylor Harris, Sarah Hennings, and Anna Eriksson finished in 1:40.23, their fastest time of the season.
That time is less than one second away from the school record, and less than a half-second faster than tonight's fourth and fifth place finishers. Anna Eriksson swam the anchor freestyle leg, finishing with a split of 23.09 seconds. For reference, the current school record in the 50 freestyle is also 23.09 seconds.
In the other race of the evening, the Falcons placed 8th in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team of Maddy Andrews, Julianna Petrak, Kellie House, and Shaunna Jones finished in 7:32.67. The Falcons are currently in 6th place with 54 points. They are within 15 points of the 2nd through 5th place teams.

The 2020 MAC Championships continue tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. The preliminary session will feature the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, and 1 meter dive. The 1 meter dive consolation finals will follow the 1 meter dive prelims. The finals session will feature the same events and begin at 6:30 p.m. With the exception of the 1 meter dive, each event will feature a consolation final and a championship heat. Following the 1 meter dive finals, the evening will conclude with the championship heat of the 200-yard freestyle relay.

- Lauren Sullivan swam BGSU's only time trial of the night, the 50-yard backstroke. Her A Cut time of 25.75 gives her a spot at the National Invitational Championship in Cleveland, Ohio. This is the first career National Championship Invitational appearance for the junior.
