OXFORD, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team was defeated by Miami University on Saturday (Feb. 29) by a score of 73-55. The Mid-American Conference game was played at MU's Millett Hall. BGSU remains in first place in the MAC with just two regular-season contests remaining.
The Falcons dropped to 21-8 (12-4 MAC) with the loss. The RedHawks moved to 12-17 (5-11 MAC) with the victory. Bowling Green controls its own destiny for a regular-season MAC title. Akron sits at 12-4, as well, but the Falcons would earn the No. 1 seed by winning their final two regular-season games.
With 11:08 left in the game, Daeqwon Plowden drilled a three-pointer to give BGSU its first lead of the day at 53-51. Miami then ended the game on a 22-2 run. Plowden scored a career-high 26 points on 7-of-11 shooting. He also grabbed 11 rebounds, marking the 11th double-double of his career.
Off the bench, senior guard Dylan Frye and junior forward Trey Diggs each scored seven points. Senior guard Michael Laster added six points, four assists and three steals.
MAC TOURNAMENT TICKETS
Season ticket holders across all sports are able to purchase tickets for the quarterfinal game in Cleveland on March 12 by calling the BGSU Athletic Ticket Office at 419-372-0000. In addition, season ticket holders currently have priority access to request tickets for Friday (March 13) and Saturday (March 14) at the MAC Tournament. Should the Falcons advance to the NCAA Tournament, season ticket holders would have priority access to request those tickets, as well. For more information, all season ticket holders were emailed on Monday (Feb. 24) with more details on requesting post-season tickets for the men's basketball team.
