Turner And Plowden Earn All-Conference Honors
March 11, 2020 | Men's Basketball
Bowling Green placed a player on the top-two teams for just the third time since 2004-05. BGSU and Akron are the only two teams in 2019-20 to have representation on the first and second team lists.
Turner becomes the first Falcon since Anthony Stacey in 1999 and 2000 to bring home first team honors in back-to-back seasons. Turner ranks fourth in the MAC with an 18.8 scoring average in 2019-20. The native of Detroit has scored 20-plus points 14 times this season, including 10 such efforts in conference play. Turner made game-deciding plays in a number of MAC games, highlighted by his game-winning shot versus Ohio with 2.2 seconds to play on Feb. 22.
Plowden made a massive leap in terms of development in 2019-20, bringing home second team honors after not appearing on any of the postseason teams in 2018-19. Plowden averaged 12.7 points and 8.5 rebounds as a junior. Plowden ranked sixth in the MAC in rebounding, and fourth in the league in offensive rebounding (2.7/game). Plowden registered 10 double-doubles in 2019-20, and scored in double figures a total of 22 times.
Bowling Green is set to take on Toledo at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday (March 12) in the quarterfinals of the MAC Tournament. The tournament is taking place at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.
