Walker, Falcons Welcome Seven Newcomers to Fold

Bowling Green State University women's soccer coach Jimmy Walker and the Falcons have added seven newcomers to the squad for the coming year. Five individuals – Lacee Bethea (Lexington, Ohio), Maya Dean (Traverse City, Mich.), Emily Martin (Saratoga Springs, Utah), Riley Moore (Linden, Mich.) and Emma Richardson (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada) – signed National Letters of Intent to join the Falcon family in the 2020-21 academic year.

Additionally, Madison Alberty (North Royalton, Ohio) and Emilie Gardner (Whitehouse, Ohio) recently signed grants in aid to join the BGSU program this fall.

MADISON ALBERTY | 5-7 | F | North Royalton, Ohio | Holy Name H.S.
2019 AT OHIO STATE
Played in nine matches off the bench for the Buckeyes … made her collegiate debut vs. Louisville in the season opener … also saw action in the next match, vs. Missouri, and had her lone shot attempt of the season … saw action against UCF and TCU as well, along with a pair of wins over MAC members Miami and Ohio … in Big Ten Conference play, saw time in matches vs. Michigan State, Michigan and Minnesota.

HIGH SCHOOL
Earned four letters for Holy Name H.S. ('19), starting all four seasons ... a two-time All-Ohio selection and a four-time All-Great Lakes Conference selection for coach Emily Yaya ... was the GLC Player of the Year as a senior, and also was named to the Greater Cleveland All-Star Team ... two-time team captain for the Green Wave ... National Honor Society.

PERSONAL
Born on Jan. 10, 2001, in Westlake, Ohio ... daughter of Greg and Julie Alberty ... plans to major in exercise science and nutrition at BGSU ... the second of three children ... has an older brother, Quinn, and a younger sister, Kennedy … played club ball for Ohio Premier, with five years of experience for coach Chris King ... also played for Cleveland United ... favorite athlete is LeBron James ... lists her grandmother as her biggest influence.

COACH WALKER ON ALBERTY
"Madison Alberty is a dynamic forward that we expect to contribute to our teams offensive threat immediately. She played at Ohio State last year and had good minutes in the Big Ten Conference as a freshman. Madison is an explosive, creative player that can score goals and get assists for us this fall! Madison will be a great fit for us on and off the field, and she aligns with the core values we have in place for BGWS. Madison was a standout player for ECNL powerhouse OP in Columbus."

LACEE BETHEA | 5-1 | F | Lexington, Ohio | Lexington H.S.
HIGH SCHOOL
Earned four letters at Lexington H.S. ('20) under coach Buck Morton ... named to the All-Ohio First Team as a senior ... a four-time Ohio Cardinal Conference first-team selection who helped the Minutemen to sectional championships in all four seasons ... was named to the All-Northwest District Team in all four years, earning first-team accolades in each of the last three seasons ... scored 27 goals and added 14 assists as a senior, helping the team to a 13-4-1 record ... LHS went 43-21-8 during her career, and she had totals of 60 goals and 39 assists in that time ... also has earned three letters in track to date ... was an OCC champion in the 4x100 in two of her first three years, qualifying for regionals in that event in every year to date ... team won the OCC title in both 2017 and 2019.

"I chose BGSU because I immediately felt at home. They have a great program for Early Childhood Education and I loved the smaller school atmosphere. BGSU has the best women's soccer program and I wanted to play for the best! I loved the coaches and players and I knew right away it was the place I wanted to be."

COACH WALKER ON BETHEA
"Lacee Bethea is an extremely athletic winger that will provide great depth to our offense. She is exciting to watch and is rapidly quick on the wing. Lacee should serve as a dangerous attacking option for us this fall and is an exciting young prospect. Lacee is another club product of Ohio powerhouse OP from Columbus and will be a goal-scoring threat for BGSU. Lacee has a great personality and fits in to our culture of not only being a good player but a great person."

Attends Traverse City West Senior H.S. ('20), where she played for coaches Chelsey and Matthew Griesinger ... Matt was a BGSU men's soccer standout ... played just one year, her sophomore season, for the Titans ... played for Midwest United FC Development Academy as a junior ... in that one season with her high-school team, had nine goals and 20 assists as the Titans won the Big North Conference championship ... also has lettered in cross country skiing, and played basketball as a sophomore ... Honor Roll ... National Honor Society treasurer ... member of student leadership council.

Born on March 14, 2002, in Dearborn, Mich. ... daughter of Raymond and Julie Dean ... currently undecided upon a major, but considering pre-med or graphic design ... the second of three children ... has an older brother, Jacob, and a younger brother, Carter ... father competed in track and cross country at Saginaw Valley State Univ. ... as mentioned, has played with the Midwest United FC Development Academy, helping that club to Midwest Region titles in 2018 and '19 ... also has played for the ODP Region II team ... favorite athlete is Tobin Heath ... lists her parents as her greatest influences.

"Maya Dean is a creative midfielder and has a great work ethic in the center of the park. She possesses good technical skills and a great soccer IQ, and will provide good depth and quality to our midfield. Maya was a standout player for Midwest United of the USSF Developmental Academy and we are excited to see what she does this fall at BG. Maya is a great addition to our BGWS Family and has a fantastic demeanor and great maturity level as a person!"

Attends Anthony Wayne H.S. ('20), where she earned three letters for coach Lori Williams (a BGSU alum) ... named to the OSSCA All-Ohio First Team as a senior, and also was named to the USC All-Region Team ... helped the Generals to a 50-5-6 record in her three years, including a 22-1-0 mark and a trip to the state championship match in her senior season ... the Generals captured the Northern Lakes League title and won sectional championships in all three seasons ... named to the All-NLL First Team in her last two years after earning second-team honors as a sophomore ... a two-time all-district first-team member, she was named both the NLL co-Player of the Year and the District P-O-Y in 2019 ... her six goals as a senior included the lone goal in the Generals' state semifinal win ... that came one game after she scored two goals in a 3-1 victory that sent AW to the final four ... earned academic all-league, all-district, all-state and all-region accolades as well ... also lettered in track, earning all-league and all-district honors in each of her two years ... Emilie played for Pacesetter Soccer Club in Toledo where her current team have been the Ohio North State Champions the last three years. Emilie is a fantastic young lady that will be a great fit with our team culture at BGSU."

"Emily Martin comes to BG from Utah where she was a standout player for Utah Celtic. She is a very talented holding midfielder that made a huge impact during her team's run at USYSA National Championships last summer. Emily is very technical, has great vision and a competitive mindset in the midfield where she will add explosiveness to an already talented midfield unit. Emily is a fantastic young lady and will be another great addition to our BG women's soccer family."

Born on Aug. 24, 2002, in Flint, Mich. ... daughter of P.J. and Stacey Moore ... plans to major in sport management at BGSU ... an only child ... has played club soccer for Nationals Development Academy since 2018 ... helped her team to a U.S. Soccer Development Academy national quarterfinal berth in 2019 ... has also played for Waza FC (2012-15) and Michigan Hawks ECNL (2015-18), and was a U.S. National Training Center invitee ... has won a pair of State Cup championships, and helped the Hawks to an ECNL national semifinal appearance in 2017 ... favorite athlete is Richard Sherman ... lists her father as her greatest influence.

"Riley Moore comes to BGSU after a standout club career playing in the USSF DA for Nationals, Michigan. She is an athletic goalkeeper that will come in and compete to play right away for BGSU. Riley is a good shot stopper that possesses good size and athleticism. She is great with her feet and also has good charisma, confidence and a presence as a 'keeper. Riley will be a great fit for BGSU on and off the field and she aligns with what we want our culture to be!"

Attends Paul Kane H.S. ('20), where she played for coaches Menuir, Madsen and Ainsley-O'Connor ... named Rookie of the Year for the Blues in 2018 ... has earned high honours in every year.

PERSONAL
Born on March 27, 2002, in St. Albert, Alberta ... daughter of Travis and Shauna Richardson ... plans to major in pre-health/biology at BGSU ... has two older sisters, Alyssa Reynolds and Chelsea Richardson ... uncle, Braydon Cox, played hockey at Colorado Coll. ... has played for Edmonton Internazionale, Northwest United women's team and FC Edmonton Rex ... has helped her teams to several provincial championships, and was a part of the second-place team in the AMSL women's Canadian national championships ... favorite athlete is Eden Hazard.

RICHARDSON ON BGSU
"I chose BGSU because the coaches and players of the women's soccer team are great and hard-working people. The atmosphere at BG wasn't like any other school I had been to. Some teachers I got to meet were very kind, and same with the students. I also chose BG for its high academic ranking and for how safe the campus is."

COACH WALKER ON RICHARDSON
"Emma Richardson is a very exciting attacking player that has the ability to score goals and get assists for us at BG. Emma is creative as well as athletic and could be a threat both as an attacking midfielder and forward in the fall. She played her club soccer for Edmonton Internazionale in Alberta where she was a standout player. Emma is another young lady that will fit in to our team's culture of being a talented player as well as a fantastic person."

BGSU has won both the MAC regular-season and tournament titles in each of the last two seasons. The 2019 Falcons went 14-6-3 overall, tying the school record for wins for the second-straight season. BGSU was 10-1-0 in MAC regular-season play, tying the school record for conference wins, and the Falcons have become the first program in MAC history to win 10 league matches in back-to-back seasons.

The Falcons scored a school-record 46 goals in 2019, en route to the second league regular-season title and the fourth MAC Tournament crown in program history. Over the last three seasons, the Falcons are 41-18-7 overall, 26-6-1 in MAC regular-season matches and 32-7-3 in all games vs. conference foes.
