BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team dropped a 69-57 decision to the University of Akron on Tuesday (Jan. 19) night. The Mid-American Conference game was played inside of the Stroh Center. Bowling Green drops to 10-4 (6-2 MAC) on the season with the loss.

Bowling Green took a 45-43 lead with just under 10 minutes left in regulation, but the Zips closed the game on a 26-12 run to pull out the win. With the victory, Akron moves to 6-3 (4-2 MAC). Both teams shot under 40 percent on the evening, but the Zips scored 17 points at the foul line while the Falcons attempted just five free throws.

Senior forward Daeqwon Plowden and freshman guard Kaden Metheny each scored 14 points to lead the Falcons. Fifth-year senior Justin Turner added 13 points, six assists and five rebounds.

The Falcons will continue the 2020-21 season with a scheduled game at Miami on Thursday (Jan. 21) from Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
