OXFORD, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team was defeated by Miami University, 96-77, Thursday (Jan. 21) night. The Mid-American Conference game was played inside of Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio. Bowling Green drops to 10-5 (6-3 MAC) on the season with the loss. The Falcons have dropped two straight games for the first time in 2020-21.
The RedHawks got out to an early 23-6 lead and the Falcons were not able to bounce back. The Falcons had the MU lead within single digits at several points throughout the game and into the second half, but MU's hot-shooting allowed the RedHawks to keep distance. Miami shot 58.7 percent (37-of-63) from the floor, including an 11-for-23 (47.8 percent) mark from downtown.
On the night, fifth-year senior Justin Turner scored 20 points to surpass Falcon great and former NBA guard Keith McLeod (1998-2002 | 1,895 points) on Bowling Green's all-time scoring list. Turner has scored 1,901 points and is now just 38 points away from becoming BGSU's all-time leading scorer.
Fellow senior Daeqwon Plowden added a team-high 21 points, marking the fifth 20-plus point game of his collegiate career. Senior Trey Diggs added 16 points, while freshman Josiah Fulcher tied a career high with 11 points.
