Falcons Secure 3-0 Win Over Northern Illinois For Weekend Sweep

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program picked up their second win of the weekend with a 3-0 win over Northern Illinois on Saturday (Jan. 23) for the match and weekend sweep. The Falcons maintained a .394 hitting percentage for the match, including a .447 mark in the first set. Behind that success the Orange and Brown advance to 2-0 to begin the season and will now prepare for Western Michigan next weekend.Â

Play-By-Play Notes
- The first set began close like the first meeting between the two teams, but a late 4-0 run for the Falcons pushed the score to 23-18 before the Falcons closed out the set with a 25-20 final.Â
- In the first set alone Katelyn Meyer landed seven kills while Bowling Green put up a .447 hitting percentage, both setting the tone for the match as a whole.Â
- In the second set the Falcons jumped out to a 3-0 lead and were able to hold the advantage through the set, concluding at 25-22.
- Improving upon the first set, Meyer tallied nine kills in the second set with the Orange and Brown hitting north of .400 once again, this time at .433.Â
- The third set saw the Bowling Green control the score for most of the set, again starting with a 3-0 lead. In all, the set had five ties, but no lead changes before the Falcons clinched the set and the match with a 25-18 score.
Strong Individual PerformancesÂ
- As a team, Bowling Green hit just below .400 for the match, ending up with a .394 hitting percentage.Â
- For the Falcons, Katelyn Meyer led the way on the attack with 19 kills and just one error on 38 attempts for an impressive .474 hitting percentage.
- While Meyer led in kills, it was Petra Indrova that led in hitting percentage. Indrova landed 16 kills with only error as well on 24 attempts for a .625 hitting percentage.Â
- Indrova also registered her second double-double of the season in as many matches with a team-leading 13 digs to go along with her 16 kills.
- Hanna Laube once again led the team in assists with 44 on the night while five different players logged an assist as well.
- Katie Kidwell paced the team in block assists on the night with three while Indrova, Laube and Alexis Mettille had two each as well. Jacqueline Askin rounded out the list with one.Â
