Battling The BroncosÂ
Bowling Green will hit the road for the first time this season to face Western Michigan for two matches. The Broncos are coming off an identical start to their season as the Falcons. Like Bowling Green, Western Michigan won their first match in a 3-2 final before taking the second match 3-0 for the series sweep over Toledo. The Broncos were led by senior Rachel Bontrager who landed 16 kills in Friday's match before registering 20 on Saturday. For the second consecutive season Western Michigan has now started 2-0.Â
Last Time Out: Northern Illinois, Match 1
In the first match of the season, Bowling Green came out swinging over five sets against Northern Illinois. The second set proved to be the most efficient for the Falcons with a .441 hitting percentage and 75% sideout. In total, it was the offensive trio of Katelyn Meyer, Petra Indrova and Katrin Trebichavska that seemed to be the difference. Meyer landed 20 kills while Trebichavska had 17 and Indrova 16. Indrova also posted 11 digs for the team's first double-double of the season. Junior setter Hanna Laube also posted a new career-high 51 assists in the contest while Julia Walz led the team in digs with 21.

Last Time Out: Northern Illinois, Match 2
The second match of the weekend saw more of the same from the Falcons with the team hitting just shy of .400 with a mark of .394. It was again Meyer who led the way on the attack, this time with 19 kills while also having just one error on 38 attempts for a hitting percentage of .474. Indrova also landed 16 kills again while also having a single error on 24 attempts for a .625 hitting percentage. Indrova added 13 digs to her line as well for her second consecutive double-double to begin the season. Katie Kidwell also helped knock down three block assists to continue moving her up the all-time list. As for the setter position, Laube paced the Falcons with 44 assists, already with 95 through the first two matches of the 2021 spring campaign.
Â
Kidwell Continues To ClimbÂ
With five block assists along with a solo block against Northern Illinois, Katie Kidwell is now up to 416 total blocks over her career as a Falcon. That mark moved her up the all-time list, now up to eighth in program history, passing Caty Rommeck. Next up for Kidwell will be Stephanie Swiger, needing seven more blocks to make the pass. Kidwell also trails Swiger on the all-time block assists list. Swiger currently holds the fourth spot with 380 while Kidwell is just behind in fifth with 356. As for solo blocks, Kidwell needs 19 more to crack the Top 10 all-time.Â
Picking Up Where She Left OffÂ
During the 2019 season, Katelyn Meyer logged 1,374 attack attempts, the third most in program history. In the first two matches of this season she showed that those numbers could carry over. Between the two matches combined, Meyer registered 95 attack attempts. With a total of 22 games on the schedule, Meyer's early pace has her on track for 1,045 attack attempts, plus any postseason action the Falcons could have. If that pace holds, Meyer could find herself in the record book's Top 10 for career attack attempts by the end of the season and just shy of putting up another Top 10 single season mark.
