Falcons Focused On Home Opener Against Ohio Wesleyan Friday
November 11, 2021 | Men's Basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will return home to the Stroh Center for the first time in the 2021-22 season on Friday (Nov. 12) to host Ohio Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. tip. The contest will mark the home opener for the Falcons while also serving as Space Jam Night at the Stroh. The game is set to have a radio feed on WFRO Eagle 99 with live stats available at bgsufalcons.com and live updates available on Twitter (@BGSUMHoops).
BGSU and Ohio Wesleyan will meet for just the fifth time in program history, and for the first time in over 75 years. Between the 1944 and 1945 season, the Falcons and Battling Bishops played four times, but have not played since. Each team has hosted the series twice, but Bowling Green has been victorious no matter the location. The first meeting saw the Falcons capture a 66-26 win, the largest margin of victory for the series.
At The Game: Space Jam Night
The Falcons will be hosting Space Jam Night against Ohio Wesleyan. Clips from the movie Space Jam will be played throughout the night in addition to other promotions surrounding the movie.
The BGSU Marketing team will also be announcing a winner of three tickets to see the Detroit Pistons play the Sacramento Kings on Monday (Nov. 15). The winner will also receive an autographed basketball by former BGSU Falcon and current Sacramento King Richaun Holmes. You must be present to win.

A Bowling Green Win Would …
Browsing The Battling Bishops
Ohio Wesleyan began their season on Tuesday (Nov. 9) night at home against Capital. The Battling Bishops came up short in the contest, ending in a 61-56 final in favor of Capital. Statistically, Ohio Wesleyan was led by junior Grant Spicer and freshman Henry Hinkle, both logging 14 points in the game. Spicer tied for the team-high in rebounds (9) while Hinkle paced the team in assists (4).
Plowden In Elite Company
Daeqwon Plowden has already etched his name into the Bowling Green record book and he's doing so among elite company. After surpassing the 1,000 career point mark last season, Plowden also reached the Top 10 all-time for both rebounds and blocks in program history. The only other player currently in the top 10 for both rebounds and blocks and with at least 1,000 points is Cornelius Cash. Cash is second all-time in rebounding (1,068), eighth in blocks (93) and 27th in points (1,245). Cash, who played from 1972-75, was inducted into the BGSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.
Nearing A Record-Breaking Dae
In addition to being in the record book for career points, rebounds and blocks, Daeqwon Plowden is drawing closer to breaking an all-time program record. Now in his fifth season with the Falcons, Plowden has played in 124 career games for the Orange and Brown. He needs just six more games played to break Demajeo Wiggins (2015-19) record, currently set at 129 games played.
Reece's Piece To The Puzzle
Transferring to the Falcons from Old Dominion this season, Joe Reece immediately showed his impact in the first game of the season. In his BGSU debut, Reece posted a double-double with a career-high 12 rebounds. The double-double marked the second of Reece's collegiate career. The first came back on March 11, 2020 against Florida Atlantic in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament.
