Schneider Scores Two Goals As Falcons Fall To NMU

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Bowling Green Falcons (7-4-2, 5-4-0) were defeated by the Northern Michigan Wildcats (8-6-0, 6-5-0) by a score of 6-3 on Friday, Nov. 26. The CCHA contest was played in the Berry Events Center. Taylor Schneider scored two goals for the Falcons, including a power play score in the second period. Austen Swankler also found the net, scoring a power play goal in the third period.

Scoring Plays
- Taylor Schneider put the Falcons on the board first, intercepting a Wildcat pass and skating down the middle. His first shot was blocked by the NMU goalie, but Schneider knocked in the rebound for an unassisted goal.
- Northern Michigan evened the score with a goal late in the first period. David Keefer found the net for the Wildcats, scoring on his own rebound for an unassisted goal.
- The Wildcats took the lead just 36 seconds later, as Oscar Geschwind found an opening and converted on a close-range opportunity. The lone assist was awarded to Vincent de Mey.
- The Falcons knotted it at 2-2 in the second period with a power play goal. Taylor Schneider found the net with his shot from the left circle, his second goal of the night. Alex Barber was credited with the assist.
- With just over two minutes left in the second period, Michael Colella secured a loose puck and slotted a shot from the right side to give the Wildcats the lead. Joseph Nardi was credited with the lone assist.
- NMU tacked on another goal 48 seconds later, as Mack Byers chipped in a puck that found its way through traffic in the crease. Bo Hanson and David Keefer earned the assists.
- The Wildcats padded their lead with a goal about four and a half minutes into the final period. Andre Ghantous skated across the offensive zone and slipped an unassisted goal through a gap in the right side, giving NMU a three-goal lead.
- AJ Vanderbeck got an open look after a Bowling Green turnover and went top shelf for the Wildcats' final goal. Hampus Eriksson earned the assist.
- Austen Swankler registered the final goal of the night, a power play score with 66 seconds remaining in regulation. His shot from the right side of the zone found the back of the net, with assists being earned by Taylor Schneider and Gabriel Chicoine.

Falcon Facts
- Taylor Schneider's multi-goal effort was his first of the season. His multi-point performance marks his team-best sixth of the year. Schneider has tallied a multi-point effort in every conference series this season.
- Schneider's power play goal was his second this season and eighth of his career. He has 30 goals in his Bowling Green career, the most on the team.
- Austen Swankler's power play goal was his second of the season and sixth total goal this year.
- Swankler (6-8-14) and Schneider (5-9-14) are tied for the team lead in points.
- Gabriel Chicoine tallied his team-best 12th assist of the year. The senior has an assist in the last six games.
- Alex Barber notched his sixth assist of the year, giving him 10 points this season. The captain has 70 points as a Falcon, the most of anyone on the active roster.
- Zack Rose made 30 saves, his second-highest save count of the season.
