December 17, 2021 | Men's Basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will return to action at the Stroh Center on Sunday (Dec. 19) for the second of four straight home games during the month of December. The Falcons will host the Robert Morris Colonials for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off. The game between the Falcons and Colonials will be available to stream through ESPN3. Fans can also tune in to the action via radio on WFRO Eagle 99. Live stats will be provided by bgsufalcons.com with live updates available on Twitter (@BGSUMHoops).Â
The meeting between the Falcons and Colonials will be just the third all-time with all three happening within the last 10 seasons. This marks the first meeting in Bowling Green after Robert Morris hosted the first two contests. BGSU and RMU first faced during the 2012-13 season on Nov. 19, seeing the Colonials capture a 71-60 win. As for the second game, the Falcons were victorious with a 20-point victory on Dec. 18, 2020 in an 85-65 final.Â

Scouting The ColonialsÂ
The Robert Morris Colonials will enter the game against the Falcons on Sunday with a record of 1-8 and an 0-2 standing in conference play for the Horizon League. The Colonials recently picked up their first win of the 2021-22 season on Dec. 8, topping Lancaster Bible by a score of 99-51 at home. The win halted a seven-game skid to start the season for RMU. Individually, the Colonials have three players averaging at least 12 points per game, led by senior forward Kahliel Spear. Spear is currently averaging 13.7 points per game on top of 8.3 rebounds per game as well as 11 blocks and 10 steals so far this year.
Nearing History… AgainÂ
Daeqwon Plowden is continuing his surge through the BGSU men's basketball record books and he's nearing a feat that has never been reached in program history. With 790 career rebounds, Plowden is just 10 rebounds away from the 800-mark for his career in the Orange and Brown. Once he reaches that mark, he will be the first player in program history with at least 1,200 career points, 800 career rebounds and 100 career blocks. Plowden enters the Robert Morris game 25th in program history for career points (1,266), eighth for career rebounds (790) and eighth for career blocks (104).Â
Among Nation's BestÂ
Bowling Green has been one of the nation's best rebounding teams so far during the 2021-22 season. Through nine games, the Falcons are averaging 42.9 rebounds per game, which is the eighth-best mark in the country. Only Arizona, Grand Canyon, Kentucky, Southern Utah, Illinois, UConn and South Carolina have higher rebounding averages. The advantage for the Falcons has come largely on the offensive end of the court, where they are averaging 14.1 offensive rebounds per game, 13th in the nation. When outrebounding their opponent this season, Bowling Green holds a record of 4-0.
