Kailee Perry Named MAC Track Athlete Of The Week
February 10, 2021 | Women's Track and Field
Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University sophomore Kailee Perry has been named the Mid-American Conference's Track Athlete of the Week. The award continues a banner year for Perry between cross country and track & field.
In the fall, Perry was twice named the USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week in cross country. She claimed the MAC Championship in cross country and has carried that momentum into the spring. She is the No. 1 ranked miler in the MAC after posting a time of 4:53.78 at Central Michigan's Jack Skoog Invitational this past weekend. That time is the fifth-fastest mile in program history and she becomes the fourth-fastest woman in BGSU history in the event. To add to it, Perry also won the 800 at the Jack Skoog Invitational in 2:16.13 and currently sits sixth in the league.
Perry is yet to be defeated in a race in 2020-21, winning the 800 twice and the mile twice this season. She also won both cross country races she ran in during the fall of 2020, including that MAC Championship.
Perry joins teammates Ryen Draper and Ebonie Whitted as MAC Athletes of the Week this season. Draper was named MAC Track Athlete of the Week like Perry, while Whitted was a MAC Field Athlete of the Week.
