BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The Bowling Green women's track and field team opened its 2025-26 indoor season with a strong showing at the Tom Wright Open on Saturday, hosting Ball State and Cleveland State at the Perry Field House.
The Falcons set the tone early in the field events. Bianca Staples (12.24m) and Sabrina Imes (12.09m) swept the top two spots in the triple jump, while Sierra Brinson (15.37m) and Grace Bradtmueller (15.36m) placed second and third in the weight throw. Brinson later captured the shot put title with a mark of 14.04 meters, winning by nearly three feet.
The meet's highlight came in the 60-meter hurdles, where Morgan Patterson clocked a personal-best 8.46 to win the event and move to No. 3 on the program's all-time list.
"It was just really impressive given it's December," head coach Lou Snelling said. "That looked more like an early February moment. It's exciting to think about where she can take that as she goes through the year."
The Falcons continued their depth in the hurdles as Alexsia Davis set a personal best in the prelims (9.02), and Christabelle Obi ran 8.66, placing her sixth all-time at BGSU.
On the track, Erinae Coleman finished third in the 60-meter dash (7.64). Bowling Green then swept the top two spots in the 300, led by Kiersten Franklin (39.68) and Reagan Campbell (40.51). Tyetta Herman followed in fourth (40.93).
Freshman Delaney Jones made her collegiate debut in the 200 with a time of 25.75. In the long jump, the Falcons dominated with a 1-2-3-4 finish from Imes (5.53m), Patterson (5.40m), Kiera Bonds (5.40m) and Staples (5.32m).
Bowling Green closed the meet with a win in the 4x400 relay, as Franklin, Campbell, Staples and Obi posted a 3:51.15 to finish nearly three seconds ahead of Ball State.
The meet concludes the Falcons' 2025 calendar. They return to action Jan. 16 at Central Michigan's Jack Skoog Open.
"There are a couple things we talked about post-meet," Snelling said. "We feel solid about where we're at right now. The question is where we go from here, how we build and how we manage the December break. It was a solid opener, but we have a lot of work to do. We also talked about team energy—there were good moments, and moments that looked like a first meet. We've got to build that heading into January and especially February."
