February 08, 2021 | General, Men's Basketball, Women's Track and Field
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Medical Mutual Athletes of the Week, as selected by the strategic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's basketball player Justin Turner and track & field student-athlete Zaresha Neal.
Male Athlete of the Week
Justin Turner, a fifth-year senior from Detroit, Mich., became BGSU men's basketball's all-time leading scorer last Wednesday in a 76-70 loss to Western Michigan University. Turner entered the night just five points away from surpassing Anthony Stacey (1995-2000 | 1,938 points), who held the record since Feb. 16, 2000. Turner broke the record with a three-pointer in front of the WMU bench with 13:53 left in the opening half. The native of Detroit has scored 1,959 points in 112 games in the Orange and Brown.
