SETTING THE SCENE – BGSU BATTLES BULLS IN SEMIFINAL ROUND
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team, coming off of the program's first win in a Mid-American Conference Tournament game in eight years, now looks to make it two such wins in three days. Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons, the tourney's top seed, will meet fourth-seeded Buffalo in Friday's (March 12) semifinal round, with tipoff at 10:00 a.m. at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
• The BGSU-UB winner will advance to Saturday's (March 13) championship game to face the winner of Friday's second game, pitting Central Michigan vs. Ohio.
• BGSU has won 11 of the last 13 games, with the only two losses in that time by one point each. One of those setbacks, however, came at the hands of UB. The Falcons rallied back from a 20-point deficit, but Buffalo escaped the Stroh Center with a 69-68 win in overtime on Saturday (March 6).
• The Falcons, after going 10-21 overall and 3-15 in the MAC last year, were picked to finish 11th in the 12-team league in '20-21, according to the preseason coaches' poll. BG is now 19-5 overall, and went 14-4 in the MAC to win the regular-season crown.

THE FALCONS IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT
• BGSU enters Friday's UB game with an all-time record of 45-25 in MAC Tournament contests. The Falcons have won 11 league tournament titles, the most of any conference institution, and BG has the second-highest winning percentage (.643) of any team in league tourney games. BGSU's conference tournament win total also places the Falcons second among MAC teams. A complete list of BGSU's game-by-game results in MAC Tournament play can be found in the PDF version of these notes.
FALCONS VS. BUFFALO IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT
• The Falcons and Buffalo are meeting for the third time in MAC Tournament play, and the third time in the six years. BGSU is 0-2 in tourney meetings with UB, with both previous meetings having taken place in Western New York.
• The teams met in the first round of the MAC Tournament in back-to-back years, with the Bulls winning both games in Alumni Arena by nearly identical scores. UB captured a 60-44 win in 2016, and a 61-45 verdict the following year.
Year Round Opponent (Site) Result
2016 1st Rd. at Buffalo L 44-60
2017 1st Rd. at Buffalo L 45-61
CLEVELAND ROCKS!
• BGSU has had great success at the arena known as Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse over the years, and the Falcons enjoyed an incredible run at the building during a decade-long span from 2004-13.
• Following Wednesday's 63-47 victory over Eastern Michigan, BGSU now has a 22-7 record in MAC Tournament games at Gund/Quicken Loans/Rocket Mortgage, and the Falcons are 22-8 overall in league tournament contests played in Cleveland over the years (the tourney was held at Public Hall in 2000).
• The Falcons lost their first-ever game at then-Gund Arena, in the 2001 MAC Tournament. BGSU then went 20-3 at 'the Gund'/'the Q' from 2004-11. The Falcons posted two buzzer-beating wins in Cleveland to get to the 2004 title game before succumbing.
• Then, Curt Miller's Falcons won 10-straight games in the building, capturing three consecutive titles from 2005-07 before being upset in double overtime in the 2008 semifinals.
• BG won two games to advance to the 2009 title match before falling by four points to Ball State, and the Falcons then captured six consecutive games in the venue en route to the 2010 and '11 championships.
• Then, however, the Falcons won just one of the next four games in the building. BGSU's win over EMU was the Falcons' first MAC Tournament victory – at any site – since the third round of the 2013 tourney (a 55-53 win over WMU at the Q).
A QUICK LOOK AT THE BULLS
• Buffalo is 15-8 overall entering Friday's BGSU game, and the Bulls finished MAC play with an 11-6 record. UB earned the number-four seed for the MAC Tournament.
• Dyaisha Fair is averaging 24.4 points per game to lead the Bulls, and she also paces the club with 5.1 assists per contest. Cheyenne McEvans and Summer Hemphill have 11.2 and 8.2 ppg, respectively, and those three players are among four Bulls averaging from 5.5 to 5.8 rebounds per outing.
• The Bulls were 6-2 at home and 8-6 on the road this season. In the MAC, UB went 5-2 in Western New York and 6-4 away from home. Head coach Felisha Legette-Jack welcomed back nine letterwinners, including four starters, from a 2019-20 club that finished 19-12 overall and 9-9 in the MAC.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Buffalo, 26-19, in the all-time series, but UB has won the last five meetings, including both of this year's regular-season matchups. The Bulls picked up an 82-74 outcome at Alumni Arena on Jan. 13, then came to the Stroh Center and withstood a furious Falcon comeback effort to down BG, 69-68 in overtime, on the final day of the regular season (March 6).
• BGSU is 12-8 in home games, 13-11 on the road and 1-0 at neutral sites vs. UB through the years. Much more series information can be found on page 26 of the PDF version of these notes.
