Platts Wins Twice As Falcons Race Buffalo

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Swimming and Diving team hosted a strong Buffalo squad Saturday, dropping the meet by a score of 187-111.
"Buffalo is one of the top teams in the MAC," BGSU head coach Rickey Perkins said. "While they are good, I loved the way we competed. We were confident and we had fun competing. Our divers were strong and our swimmers did a great job of racing. We are on our way to having a great MAC Championship meet and a great finish to the season."

Daisy Platts, who will compete at the NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving National Championships in a week, won her two primary events, the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke. She took the 100 backstroke with a two-second cushion (55.81) and won the 200 backstroke by three seconds (2:02.21). Teammate Lauren Sullivan was runner-up in the 200 backstroke (2:05.26) and placed third in the 100 backstroke (58.50).
The Falcons started off the meet with a second-place finish by Platts, Taylor Harris, Riley McNichols and Anna Eriksson in the 200-medley relay (1:45.18). They ended the meet the same way with Platts, Sullivan, Maddy Andrews and Eriksson placing second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:32.72.
Anna Eriksson picked up some points for BG placing second in the 50 freestyle (24.12) as well as in the 100 freestyle where she also placed second (52.75).
Taylor Harris had a solid day finishing second in the 100 backstroke (1:07.05) and second in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.36). In the 200 butterfly Ava Vial placed third (2:09.86). McNichols placed third in the 100 freestyle (53.33) and third in 100 butterfly (58.42).
Kellie House finished second in the 1000 freestyle (10:30.43) followed by Livia Castro in third (10:35.15). House also finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:07.69). Maddy Andrews placed third in the 200 freestyle (1:56.84).
In 3-meter diving, Bowling Green was led by freshman Zoe Smith to a second-place finish (266.75), followed by Kylie Mosset in third (262.43) and freshman Grace Ellis placed fourth (259.30).
In 1-meter diving, the Falcons this time were led by Ellis to a second-place finish (269.10), followed by Mosset in third again (263.63) and then Smith very close behind (263.03).
This meet concludes the home schedule for Bowling Green. Platts will represent BGSU at the NCAA National Championships March 19-20. The Falcons will then complete the regular season at Akron March 27.
