Falcon forward earns honor after another two-goal game
Bowling Green State University women's soccer standout Madi Wolfbauer has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. The announcement was made late Monday afternoon (March 29). Wolfbauer earns the CSN honor for the first time in her BGSU career.
This is the third honor for Wolfbauer in the last week. Last Tuesday (March 23), she was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week, and also earned honorable mention on the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
Wolfbauer, a native of Canton, Mich. (Canton), scored two more goals in the Falcons' lone match of the week, a 3-0 win at Ohio on Sunday (March 28). Wolfbauer converted a penalty kick in the 11th minute to give BGSU an early 2-0 lead, and she scored again early in the second half to put BGSU up by three.
Wolfbauer now has team-leading totals of five goals and 10 points on the season, and she has scored all five goals in the last three games. She is the first BG player with back-to-back multiple-goal games in over a decade (since September of 2010).
The Falcons (5-1-0, 5-1-0 MAC) are slated to conclude the home portion of the regular-season schedule this week, with matches vs. Akron Thursday night (April 1) and Buffalo Sunday afternoon (April 4) at Cochrane Stadium.
