Sophomore's Golden Goal gives Falcons the win in first home match in 16 months
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -Â Sophomore Kennedy White headed home an Alexis Miller corner kick with just under four minutes gone in overtime, lifting the Bowling Green State University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Ohio University Sunday afternoon (March 7). The Mid-American Conference contest was held at Cochrane Stadium.
The Falcons (2-0, 2-0 MAC) outshot the Bobcats, 22-3, and BGSU had an 8-1 advantage in shots on goal, but Ohio goalkeeper Sydney Malham made seven stops to keep the contest tied until White's winner.
White's goal was her second in as many matches for the Falcons.
Lili Berg picked up the complete-match shutout, making one save en route to the clean sheet.

NOTE OF THE DAY
• Kennedy White, early in her second season with the Falcons, has become just the fourth player in program history to score more than one 'Golden Goal' in her BGSU career.
• White scored in the 110th minute of last season's win over Central Michigan (Oct. 10, 2019), also at Cochrane Stadium.
• White joins Corbie Yee (four overtime goals), Samantha Meister (three) and Chelsee Washington (two) on the list of BGSU players with two or more 'Golden Goals' in their career.
HIGHLIGHTS & INTERVIEWS
GOALS / KEY MOMENTS
• 5' | Kennedy White shot just over the bar from approximately 12 yards out after settling a cross from the left side. BGSU had the first four shot sttempts of the match.
• 15' | After a Jasmijn Dijsselhof corner kick, the ball caromed out to Alexis Miller at the top of the 18. Miller fired a quick shot that was blocked by an Ohio defender.
• 28' | Less than a minute after entering the match for the first time, freshman Lacee Bethea stole an errant Ohio pass in the penalty area and poked a shot toward goal. The shot went over the head of Bobcat 'keeper Sydney Malham, but caromed off of the crossbar.
• 41' | Ruby Linton had a pair of shots on goal late in the first half. The first came with just over four minutes remaining in the period, and that free kick from about 35 yards out forced Malham to deflect it over the bar.
• 43' | Zoe Hudson and Lynsey Spotts exchanged passes deep in the Bobcats' end of the field, and Spotts slid a ball to Linton just outside the 18, where Linton was dumped by a defender. Her ensuing free kick was again on target, but was again parried by Malham.
• 45' | After the Falcons' eighth corner of the half, the 'Cats were unable to clear it out of the penalty area. Madison Alberty sent a ball toward the far post, but it skimmed just wide.
• 46' | The Falcons came out firing in the second period. Less than a minute in, a Dijsselhof free kick sailed into the box, where it was poked away by a defender. Katie Cox ran onto the ball and volleyed it back toward goal, but the shot was off the mark.
• 48' | Two minutes later, Madi Wolfbauer won the ball near the corner of the 18, and hit a shot that went just wide of the far post. BG had five shot attempts in the first eight minutes of the period.
• 53' | White and Wolfbauer put shots on frame roughly 20 seconds apart, but Malham was there to keep the match scoreless. White got her head on a Dijsselhof cross, but the hard shot was hit directly at Malham. And, after Katie Cox stole the ball right back and found Wolfbauer, a low shot toward the far post was gathered in by the Bobcat 'keeper.
• 87' | With just over three minutes left in the second half, Wolfbauer stole the ball near midfield and played it ahead to White. White crossed the ball from the left side, and Bethea headed it back toward the center. Nikki Cox's bicycle kick was on target, but Malham was able to grab it.
• 93' | Wolfbauer played a ball through to Bethea, and as Bethea battled for possession with a Bobcat defender, the ball was played back to Malham. The whistle blew, and the Falcons were awarded an indirect kick in the box as it was ruled that the Ohio goalie had picked up a pass from her own defender. The free kick was taken by Wolfbauer, who tapped it to Nikki Cox on her left. Cox hit a spinning shot that spun just over the top-left corner of the goal.
• 94' | Wolfbauer took a pass on the left side and made several moves to elude a pair of defenders. She got a shot off from the approximately 10 yards out on the left side, and it was on frame, but Malham was able to block the blast, deflecting it over the bar.
• 94' | GOAL | Off of Miller's ensuing corner kick, the ball deflected off of the head of an Ohio defender and headed toward the back post, where White headed it (shouldered it, actually) home at the 93:54 mark.
