Falcons Sit Sixth After Day One Of MAC Championships

Ypsilanti, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University Swimming and Diving team sits in a tie for sixth place after the first of three days of the Mid-American Conference Championships Thursday, hosted by Eastern Michigan. Thursday saw the conclusion of five swimming events as well as the one-meter dive.
BGSU has a total of 85 points, tied with Toledo for sixth place. Ball State is just behind with 82 points. Buffalo took the early lead, compiling 239 team points, followed by Akron (235) and Miami (148). Ohio is fourth with 114 points and Eastern Michigan sits in fifth with 104.

BGSU will return to action for day two of the MAC Championships Friday, beginning with prelims at 10:30 am. Finals will begin at 6 pm with titles on the line in the 200 medley relay, the 400 individual medley, the 100 butterfly, the 200 freestyle, the 100 breaststroke, the 100 backstroke, the 800 freestyle relay, and the consolation of the 3-meter diving competition.

NOTABLE BGSU RESULTS
- Daisy Platts was the MAC runner-up in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 1:59.13. She moved up one spot from a third-place finish in the event a year ago.
- Kellie House finished fourth in the consolation final of the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:55.21.
- In one-meter diving, Grace Ellis and Zoe Smith raked in 12th and 13th place finishes. Ellis scored 244.75 points and Smith had 237.65.
- In the 400 medley relay, Platts, Taylor Harris, Anna Eriksson, and Riley McNichols placed fifth with a time of 3:43.62.
- In the 200 freestyle, the team of Platts, Lauren Sullivan, Anna Eriksson, and McNichols placed sixth with a time of 1:32.69.
