BGSU Sits Firmly in Fourth After Third Day of Zippy Invite

AKRON, Ohio — After multiple finals swims, an A Final appearance and another top four relay finish, Bowling Green accumulated 829.5 points after three days of competition at the Zippy Invite, slotting BGSU firmly in fourth place.
Freshman Lauren Jablonski delivered the Falcons' top result of the night, placing fourth in the A Final of the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.46, her fastest swim of the season. Fellow freshman Corine Rieskamp added a 10th place finish in the B final at 1:03.99.
In the 100 backstroke, senior Emily McNicol placed sixth overall, stopping the clock at 54.97. Freshman Bella Treib won the B final in 56.31, followed by Alex Johnson (11th, 57.30) and Samia Becdach (15th, 58.19).
Bowling Green placed four swimmers in the B final of the 100 butterfly. Senior Grace Bodrock led the group with a 56.43, good for 10th overall. Samia Becdach (57.03), Annie Berrow (57.65) and Aluse Sorg (59.83) rounded out the scoring swims.
The Falcons also stacked points in the 200 freestyle led by freshman Caroline Toledo, who clocked 1:53.22 to tie for 14th in the B final. Seniors Ashley Fryer (1:53.43, 20th) and Madison Bond (1:54.62, 22nd), along with junior Sierra Newton (1:54.69, 23rd), kept BGSU's scoring momentum in the event.
Junior Bridget Kurtzweil added a strong showing in the 400 IM placing 12th in 4:32.33.
Bowling Green closed the night with its best relay finish of the meet so far. The A-squad of Samia Becdach, Grace Bodrock, Emily McNicol and freshman Corine Rieskamp placed fourth in the 200 freestyle relay at 1:33.22, the Falcons' top relay mark of the weekend.
